The State of GCC Hiring in India: May 2026

Before diving into the company list, it is worth understanding the macro picture — because the data tells a story that most job seekers are not fully aware of.

India GCC Ecosystem Growth 2020–2030 India's GCC ecosystem has grown from 1,100 centers in 2020 to 1,700+ in FY24, with revenue on track to cross $100B by 2030. Source: Wisemonk India Investment Intelligence 2026.

The GCC story in India has fundamentally changed. A decade ago, these centers were back-office cost-reduction plays — processing transactions, running IT support, and handling routine operations. Today, over 90% of GCCs operate as multi-functional centers spanning technology, product engineering, AI, and global operations. More than half have evolved into portfolio and transformation hubs, owning global mandates rather than executing tasks handed down from headquarters.[^1]

The Q4 FY26 hiring rebound was broad-based. Nearly 60% of all new GCC roles in Q4 were linked to AI, data, and platform skillsets — generative AI, MLOps, platform reliability engineering, cloud infrastructure, and FinOps.[^2] This is not a temporary spike. It reflects a structural shift in what GCCs are being asked to do: build the AI capabilities that their parent companies cannot build fast enough in the US or Europe.

The talent gap is the other side of this story. India's GCC sector faces a 38–42% talent shortage in AI and data roles, a 32–36% gap in platform engineering, and a 28–32% gap in cloud infrastructure.[^2] This shortage is why companies are offering 1.5x–2.5x salary premiums for specialized AI talent — and why a mid-level GenAI specialist in Bengaluru can command ₹20–40 LPA today, compared to ₹12–18 LPA just two years ago.

Where Are GCCs Hiring? City-by-City Breakdown

Bengaluru remains the dominant GCC hub, accounting for 35% of all GCC hiring in Q4 FY26. The city hosts over 870 GCCs — the widest mix of tech, engineering, finance, and digital operations centers in the country.[^4] Hyderabad has emerged as the fastest-growing hub, capturing 22% of hiring and growing faster than any other city in the ecosystem. Pune (16%) and Chennai (12%) round out the top four.

GCC Hiring Distribution by City Q4 FY26 Bengaluru and Hyderabad together account for 57% of all GCC hiring. Tier-2 cities are growing but still represent only 10–12% of total activity. Source: Quess Corp Q4 FY26 Report.

The Tier-2 story is worth watching. Cities like Coimbatore, Jaipur, Kochi, and Ahmedabad have increased their combined share of GCC hiring to 10–12%, driven by companies adopting distributed delivery models and state government incentives. However, high-complexity roles — AI architecture, platform engineering, senior product management — remain concentrated in Tier-1 cities, with 45–50% of advanced mandates being routed back to metros due to capability gaps in smaller cities.[^2]

GCC Salaries in India: What to Expect in 2026

GCCs are in a different compensation orbit compared to Indian IT services firms. The average GCC professional in India earns ₹24.3 LPA, with Bengaluru-based professionals averaging ₹26.9 LPA.[^3] GCCs are projected to deliver salary increments of 11.5% in 2026 — significantly above India Inc's average of 9.1%.[^5]

The AI premium is the defining salary story of 2026. Roles in generative AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics attract 30–40% base-pay premiums over equivalent non-specialized roles, per an EY report.[^6] Niche AI skills are fetching 1.7x higher salary hikes compared to standard rates.

The gap between GCC compensation and IT services pay is consistent across all experience levels:

Role IT Services (Median) GCC (Median) Premium
Software Engineer (3–5 yrs) ₹9–12 LPA ₹14–22 LPA ~55%
Data Scientist (3–7 yrs) ₹10–15 LPA ₹15–30 LPA ~75%

How to Apply to GCC Companies: A Strategic Guide

Getting a job at a GCC is fundamentally different from applying to an Indian IT services firm. Here is what the data and hiring patterns tell us about what works.

Resume optimisation is non-negotiable. GCC companies — especially BFSI and tech GCCs — use Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) to filter resumes before a human ever reads them. A resume that is not ATS-optimised will be rejected automatically, regardless of the candidate's actual qualifications. The most common ATS platforms used by GCCs include Workday (JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, Microsoft), Greenhouse (Stripe, Airbnb, Figma), and Lever (mid-size tech companies). Each platform has slightly different keyword requirements.

The AI skills premium is real — and accessible. The 38–42% talent gap in AI and data roles means that candidates who can demonstrate even foundational AI/ML skills are significantly more competitive than those who cannot. This does not require a PhD. Candidates with Python proficiency, familiarity with scikit-learn or PyTorch, and one or two portfolio projects on GitHub are competitive for mid-level data analyst and ML engineer roles at many GCCs.

Direct outreach works. Only 20% of jobs are filled through job boards. The other 80% are filled through referrals and direct outreach. Most GCC companies have active employee referral programs that pay ₹25,000–₹1,00,000 per successful hire. Connecting with current employees on LinkedIn and asking for a referral — after demonstrating genuine interest in the company's work — is one of the most effective job search strategies for GCC roles.

Tier-2 city opportunities are underutilised. Candidates in Coimbatore, Jaipur, Kochi, and Ahmedabad are competing in a significantly less crowded market for GCC roles. Bosch, Honeywell, and several BFSI GCCs have active hiring programs in these cities, and the competition for roles is substantially lower than in Bengaluru or Hyderabad.

Check Your GCC Match Score on AIJobSearch

Finding the right GCC role is not just about knowing which companies are hiring — it is about knowing which roles you are genuinely competitive for. AIJobSearch reads your resume and scores every job against your profile across five dimensions: skills match, experience level, education, location, and role relevance. You only see jobs where you score 70% or above.

The platform also includes a direct company jobs feature that connects to the career pages of 237 Indian and global companies — including many of the GCCs listed above — via their public ATS APIs. This means you can see live openings from company career portals, scored against your resume, without visiting each company's website individually.

For GCC job seekers specifically, the ATS Resume Analyser and Skills Gap Analysis tools are particularly valuable. The ATS Analyser tells you exactly which keywords a specific job description requires that your resume is missing. The Skills Gap Analysis gives you a personalised learning roadmap to close the gap for your target GCC role — with estimated time to job-readiness.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a GCC in India? A Global Capability Centre (GCC) is a captive offshore center set up by a multinational company to deliver technology, operations, analytics, or other high-value functions for the parent company's global operations. Unlike outsourcing, GCCs are wholly owned by the parent company — the employees work directly for the MNC, not a third-party vendor.

Are GCC jobs better than IT services jobs? For most professionals, yes. GCCs pay 15–22% more than IT services firms for comparable roles, offer global exposure and direct interaction with parent company teams, provide better career growth opportunities (many GCC professionals transition to roles at the parent company's headquarters), and have stronger job security than project-based IT services work.

Which city has the most GCC jobs in India? Bengaluru leads with 35% of all GCC hiring, followed by Hyderabad (22%), Pune (16%), and Chennai (12%). For AI and senior engineering roles specifically, Bengaluru and Hyderabad are the dominant markets.

What skills are GCCs hiring for most in 2026? Nearly 60% of new GCC roles in Q4 FY26 were linked to AI, data, and platform skillsets. The most in-demand skills are: Python, SQL, Machine Learning, Generative AI/LLM fine-tuning, Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP), Kubernetes/Docker, React/Node.js, and Cybersecurity (SIEM, threat intelligence).

How do I get a referral at a GCC company? The most effective approach is LinkedIn. Search for employees at your target GCC who have a similar background to yours, connect with them, engage with their posts for 2–3 weeks, and then send a personalised message explaining your interest in the company and asking if they would be open to a referral. Most GCC companies have referral bonuses of ₹25,000–₹1,00,000, which gives employees a financial incentive to refer strong candidates.

Conclusion

India's GCC ecosystem in 2026 represents the single largest concentration of high-paying, globally-relevant technology jobs in the country's history. With 1,700+ centers, $64.6 billion in annual revenue, and a hiring rebound of 12–14% in Q4 FY26, the opportunity for Indian job seekers has never been greater — particularly for those with AI, data, and platform engineering skills.

The 50 companies listed above represent the most active GCC hirers across technology, BFSI, engineering, healthcare, and retail. Each one is hiring right now, for roles that pay significantly above the Indian IT services market average, with global career growth potential.

The key to landing a GCC role in 2026 is not applying to more jobs — it is applying to the right jobs with the right resume. Use the ATS Analyser to fix your resume before you apply. Use the Skills Gap Analysis to identify what to learn next. And use the direct company jobs feature on AIJobSearch to see live openings from GCC career pages, scored against your profile.
